REFERENCE BOOKS...

I've found some books that are helpful in understanding the operation of the stock engine management system, and several other modifications that are of interest to F-Body owners:

Corvette Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control: 1982 through 2001 , Charles O. Probst

Don't by put off by "Corvette" in the title... this is a guide that will give you tremendous insight into the fuel injection systems used on Corvettes and F-bodys, including TBI, TPI, LT1 and LS1. You have to be cognizant of the differences.... Corvettes have dual knock sensors, oil temperature sensors, etc.. And the LS1 Corvettes have a "fly-by-wire" cable-less throttle system that really clouds the issue on things like idle control and TPS on the LS1's. But the book has an excellent overview of fundamentals, emissions and fuels, sensors, the PCM, actuators, fuel systems, tuning, and diagnosis.
